Bhai Mardana Sangeet Festival:

This festival is a prestigious celebration of local and regional talent where non-professional jathas commemorate the greatest gift granted by our gurus – to be able to sing the praises of the Akaal Purakh in Saadh Sanggat. It is to be held for the first time ever in Malaysia. This event is brought to you by Oh My Guru (a youth program by SNSM) in collaboration with PJ Gurdwara, supported by all Malaysian Sikh organizations and gurdwaras.

The Cheras Vaisakhi Kirtan Darbaar Programme has now been running successfully since 1999. We all have been enjoying thoroughly blissful spiritual moments year in year out since its inauguration. About a year ago, the executive committee of the Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia (SNSM) felt that it was time to organise a Cheras-style Kirtan Programme but this time only for “non-professional jathas” i.e. our very own local and regional talent. It was felt that in recent times, with the emergence of many Ragis from abroad, the birth of new local kirtan jathas has come to a stop. The once popular Naujawan Satsang programmes (Wednesdays in Petaling Jaya, Tuesdays in Titi Wangsa, Thursdays in Tatt Khalsa, etc) have now become Satsang Programmes. It was felt that it is now time to remedy the decline of the emergence of new local talents.
